Overview

Campers have called Camp Kingswood home for over 110 years for good reason. We are a camp that feels more like a family than a summer program. With no more than 250 campers at one time, it’s not unusual to see 9 year olds and 13 year olds playing 9-square together after dinner, or for counselors of our oldest Chalutzim campers to know all the younger Olim campers by name. This creates an environment where campers feel seen and connected – every day, all session long. This is when campers can really thrive! When kids feel safe, seen, and connected they’re more willing to put themselves out there – whether it’s to meet a new friend or to try a new activity.

We love that our families come from across the globe and that they are down-to-earth and fun, and our families love that we share those values at camp. We believe parents are our partners, and we take that responsibility seriously. When your child joins us at camp, we warmly welcome your whole family into the Kingswood family.

Accommodation

Our spacious and well-maintained cabins are home to 10–12 campers and 3–4 bunk staff each, who all share one living space in single beds with no separated staff quarters. Living alongside the campers ensures that our staff are fully immersed in the lives of their campers, and our campers know that their counselors would rather be nowhere else than with them. Campers each have their own cubby, and counselors help our younger campers unpack and learn how to keep their space organized. Most cabins have bathrooms in the bunks, and some of the cabins also have showers. Shower houses with private, large showers and shared bathrooms are within a few steps of all the bunks. All of our bunks have porches and lots of indoor space for hanging out and bonding!

Activities

Camp Kingswood sits on the pristine and private cove of Woods Pond, a quiet, nearly 500-acre lake that provides our campers limitless water access all summer long. With 1000 feet of shoreline, our waterfront is a unique and breathtaking feature of Camp Kingswood, providing a magical backdrop right in the center of camp. Water activities include: waterskiing, swimming, canoeing, kayaking, sailing, wakeboarding, tubing, fishing, and more!

In addition to water sports, Kingswood has an expansive land sports program. including basketball, soccer, baseball, tennis, archery, lacrosse, martial arts, gymnastics, and dance.

Our community is rooted in music and creativity, so our arts program is just as strong! At Kingswood, campers can create traditional and specialized crafts, dabble in wood shop and even learn how to play their favorite songs as part of a rock band! Each session campers can choose to be in the camp play, and whether they want to be on stage, making sets, helping to choreograph, or designing costumes, there’s a role for everyone.

From climbing our ropes course to hiking along Maine’s roaring rivers and pristine lakes, campers discover a love of nature and develop the skills to explore the great outdoors for the rest of their lives! In addition to outdoor training, our staff incorporates important team-building exercises throughout each activity that facilitates friendship and leadership development within Kingswood and beyond.

Тhank you so much for creating an amazing experience for Ian! He has been singing Israeli songs all day since getting home… telling us stories, and he is so excited. He admitted, “it took [a few] days to figure out this whole no parents thing, but once I did, it was great.” Thank you for your attentive and patient demeanor while we followed up with inquiries…I’m so glad that I picked Kingswood and your team to take care of Ian for the last 3 weeks! See you again next year!

Things to know

Health & Safety

At Kingswood, the safety of our campers is our highest priority. We know your child’s safety and security is a serious concern, and in today’s world, we don’t just want camp to feel safe on the inside, we take every precaution to ensure that our site is safe and secure from the outside too. Camp’s location is off-the-beaten-path, and our gated and guarded entrance is on a small, residential side street, not accessible directly off a heavily-trafficked road. Even though camp feels secluded, we’re actually less than 2 miles (four minutes!) from Bridgton Hospital. See our website for more details about our Staff Training, on-site Health Center, and how we center social and emotional safety and mental health.
