Lenguaventura Camps offer a carefully designed summer experience in Tarifa, southern Spain, for teenagers aged 14–17. Created specifically for this age group, the camp combines language learning, watersports, and outdoor activities within a safe and supportive environment.
What sets Lenguaventura apart is its focus on simplicity, authenticity, and outdoor living. Daily life is centered around nature, the sea, and shared real-life experiences. The atmosphere is calm and well structured, following a clear rhythm that gives teenagers enough space to enjoy activities and free time naturally.
A key distinction of the camp is the freedom of choice built into each day. Teenagers select both their morning activities and their afternoon watersport sessions, allowing them to shape their own experience while remaining within a clear and supervised framework.
Watersport programs are adapted to all levels, from complete beginners to advanced participants, ensuring progression, safety, and appropriate challenge.
Alongside active programs, equal importance is given to unstructured time. Each day includes generous moments to rest, reflect, and simply enjoy being at camp - whether strolling through Tarifa's cobblestone streets, discovering small local shops, or sharing a pause together between activities. This unhurried downtime is an essential part of the experience and contributes to the camp’s overall quality and wellbeing.
Language learning at Lenguaventura takes place beyond the classroom. English and Spanish are practiced naturally through daily interactions, shared activities, excursions, and group life. This real-life immersion helps students communicate with ease and use language confidently in meaningful, everyday situations.
Lenguaventura Camps welcome teenagers from all over the world, creating an international and bilingual atmosphere where diversity is valued and friendships develop naturally. As a result, teenagers feel comfortable being themselves while learning to live, communicate, and collaborate with others in an international setting.
Through its calm location, experienced team, and thoughtful structure, Lenguaventura Camps offer a summer experience that develops practical language skills and allows teenagers to discover or deepen their engagement with watersports through regular, well-supported practice. This is combined with a strong sense of ease, giving parents confidence that safety, wellbeing, and guidance remain central at all times.

Language instruction is provided on four mornings per week, from 10 am to 1.30 pm, including a 30-minute break.
The program offers Spanish and English language classes, with an emphasis on communicative competence and interactive learning. Lessons focus on developing speaking, listening, and functional language skills, in line with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
Teaching combines structured classroom activities with practical, task-based exercises outside the classroom, encouraging students to apply language skills in real-life and social contexts.
Most participants have an existing grammatical foundation and benefit in particular from strengthening their oral fluency and confidence. The international camp setting provides continuous opportunities for authentic language practice through daily interaction with native and near-native peers, both during and beyond scheduled lesson times.

The camp is led by one Camp Director, supported by a team of experienced counsellors who have worked with Lenguaventura for several years. All counsellors are at least 24 years old when they start to work with Lenguaventura.
Counsellors are accommodated in the school residence on the same floors as the participants, ensuring close and continuous supervision. During night-time hours, one staff member is on duty.
Most group leaders work during the school year as teachers, educators, or psychologists, and therefore have extensive experience working with teenagers.
Language classes are taught by native-speaking teachers. One or two teachers also stay overnight at the residence, reinforcing supervision and contributing to an improved adult-to-student ratio.
Group leaders are recruited based on the “Monitor de Tiempo Libre” qualification and several years of experience in residential youth camps.
In addition to formal qualifications, personal suitability is considered essential. Staff members are selected for their sense of responsibility, patience, empathy, and positive attitude, as well as their ability to manage group dynamics effectively when working with teenagers.
As a bilingual camp, it is required that part of the staff has a good working knowledge of English. The team is composed of group leaders who communicate with participants in Spanish or English, or both languages, supporting an international camp environment.
All outdoor and sports activities are delivered by qualified professionals with relevant expertise. Group leaders accompany participants during activities and excursions and are responsible for the organization and supervision of evening and social activities, which require planning skills and the ability to engage and motivate young people appropriately.
Yes, this is compulsory in Spain.
All staff members participate in pre-camp training, delivered through online sessions led by a senior staff member who has worked with Lenguaventura for over 15 years, supported by the Camp Director.
In addition, counsellors receive written operational guidelines prior to arrival, which they are expected to review before the start of the camp. All staff arrive before the campers, allowing time for on-site briefings, team coordination, and direct instruction, particularly for new counsellors.
The camp benefits from a high level of staff continuity, with many group leaders returning for multiple seasons. This ensures familiarity with Lenguaventura’s procedures and standards. Furthermore, as group leaders are recruited from the age of 24 and above, most bring prior experience from other residential camps. While each camp setting is different, core supervisory responsibilities are comparable, contributing to a reliable and experienced team.
Lenguaventura promotes an inclusive and respectful camp environment in which individual differences are valued. Diversity in personality, cultural background, and personal expression is welcomed, provided that mutual respect and shared human values are upheld.
Staff members are trained to foster mutual respect, inclusion, and positive social interaction, and to address inappropriate behavior promptly. The camp’s leadership and returning staff have extensive international experience, supporting the effective integration of participants from diverse backgrounds and creating a welcoming atmosphere for all teenagers.
Lenguaventura is rooted in southern Spanish culture and maintains an open approach free from prejudice, ensuring that all participants feel safe, respected, and included throughout their stay.
Lenguaventura has a clear Code of Conduct that outlines behavioral expectations, safety rules, and mutual respect standards for all participants. This document is provided to parents and guardians upon enrollment and can also be made available prior to enrollment upon request.
The Code of Conduct applies to all camp activities and is supported by established supervision and safety procedures to ensure a safe, respectful, and well-structured camp environment.
Lenguaventura follows a balanced mobile phone policy. The camp is not anti-phone, but encourages a pro-life, pro-presence approach, promoting real social interaction and engagement in camp life.
Participants are allowed to keep their mobile phones during certain hours of the day; however, phones are placed in a secure “black box” during meals, language lessons, water sports activities, and evening activities.
During free time, students are encouraged to limit phone use and to engage in shared activities, such as playing sports, games, reading, or spending time in group conversations, to encourage meaningful peer engagement and contribute to a positive and happy camp environment focused on new friendships and togetherness.
