Forte di una tradizione centenaria, Pok-O-MacCready favorisce la crescita personale dei bambini mettendoli in grado di raggiungere l'indipendenza, di creare amicizie per tutta la vita e di sviluppare un profondo apprezzamento per il mondo naturale degli Adirondack e non solo.
Tra le oltre 40 attività offerte ci sono: escursionismo, equitazione, canoa, arrampicata su roccia, kayak, fabbro, mountain bike, vela, sport, nuoto e arti creative. La sua posizione nel Parco Adirondack gli dà accesso a centinaia di chilometri di sentieri e fiumi sia per viaggi diurni che notturni. Le strutture a disposizione di ogni campeggiatore includono una fattoria dell'inizio del XIX secolo, un centro di arrampicata al coperto, campi da tennis e da basket, un complesso di hockey su strada, moderne scuderie per cavalli, campi da gioco, banchine per nuotare e andare in barca e cabine rustiche nascoste nei campi e nella foresta. Un ambiente senza schermi, pieno di natura e piccoli gruppi di cabine promuovono la crescita sociale, l'indipendenza e la risoluzione dei conflitti.

Alloggio e alloggio strutture
Pok-O-MacCready offre una varietà di sistemazioni. I nostri campeggiatori più giovani sono ospitati in edifici in stile dormitorio per tutte le stagioni, con camere multiple e bagni privati. Ogni stanza ospita 6-8 campeggiatori e un consulente. I campeggiatori più grandi si trasferiscono in cabine rustiche e indipendenti ai margini della foresta o con vista sul lago. Queste cabine ospitano 6-8 campeggiatori e un animatore. I campeggiatori raggiungono a piedi dalle loro cabine una moderna toilette comune. I consiglieri in formazione (15 e 16 anni) si spostano nuovamente in alloggi condivisi con servizi igienici privati.

The greatest camp on earth! My brother went there in the 70s. I went there in the 80s. My sons went there in the 2010s. People talk about Pok-O spirit and it is real. The sense of community, caring, support and bonding is incredible, but the proof is in the unlimited fun everyone has there. Pok-O is in one of the most beautiful spots in the US, gives kids access to the best of the best in outdoor experience in the Adirondacks, and lets kids gain amazing confidence in themselves as they grow up and learn to be independent. My first counselor from 1981 still works there: a sign of the life-long hold it can have on people, and the wonder of the place. It’s both magical and real. Not many places are like that!
Camp is a place where I feel like I belong. At camp, I feel like I am accepted and loved.
In a world that seems more and more prescribed, camp is a necessary gift that we can give our children so that they may learn independence, gain confidence and have fun playing and challenging themselves individually and as a group. Pok-O does an incredible job setting the stage for just that sort of development and growth. I could not be happier that [she] has found the Pok-O community to be a home away from home to make new friends and try new things.
