About Young Film Academy

Young Film Academy is a London-based filmmaking education provider founded in 2003 by writer James Walker and director Ed Boase, working nationwide with 6-19 year olds. Alongside school projects, community filmmaking and day-long Labs in London, the team helps over 15,000 young people a year finish their first digital films, and its tutors are working directors, cinematographers, editors and screen actors rather than classroom teachers alone. The residential Filmmaking and Screen Acting Summer Camp at Culford School in Suffolk is its flagship holiday programme.

What families say

Megan Sedgwick, 17 (Filmmaking crew)

“Thank you Young Film Academy for giving me an opportunity to work with so many people who are as passionate about creating films as I am. I can honestly say the last two years of YFA summer camps combined have been the best four weeks of my life. You have helped me lean so much about myself and realise that creating films is what I love doing”

Mother of Sam Brenton, 13 (Acting crew)

“Thank you all so much for an absolutely incredible week with Young Film Academy. Sam has come home totally inspired and extremely keen to return next year! He has talked about every aspect of the course in great detail and has said it was everything and more than he hoped it would be!”
