LCS Camps: Adventure, Leadership, and Growth on the Waterfront
With 147 years of outdoor education experience, LCS Camps provides a supportive environment for campers ages 4 to 18. The 315-acre waterfront campus on Lake Katchewanooka serves as a natural setting for discovery, offering three distinct pathways: Day Camps, Overnight Camps, and the Summer Academy. Each program is designed to help campers build skills and confidence through active, outdoor learning.
The LCS Camps Approach: Building Character and Community
At LCS Camps, the programming is rooted in community-minded leadership, character education, and environmental sustainability. The goal is to support the development of the whole person, helping campers gain a sense of responsibility and respect for themselves, one another, and the natural world. Whether campers are participating in regenerative farming at Northcote Farm or working together on a group challenge, they are gaining practical life skills in a down-to-earth, inclusive atmosphere.
Where Learning and Traditional Camp Fun Meet
The campus offers a balance of focused learning and classic summer activities. Through the Summer Academy, campers in Grades 10–12 can earn Ontario secondary school credits in a focused, distraction-free setting that still leaves plenty of room for the outdoors.
Beyond the classroom, every camper participates in the quintessential Canadian summer. With over 40 unique program choices, days are filled with everything from improving paddling skills on the lake to exploring new sports and creative arts. It’s an opportunity for campers to stay active and engaged while enjoying the natural beauty of the Kawarthas.
A Supportive Home Away from Home
For Overnight Campers (ages 11+), LCS Camps offers a structured and welcoming first step toward independence. A 5:1 camper-to-staff ratio ensures that campers are well-supported by dedicated residential staff and counsellors. Campers stay in comfortable, air-conditioned residences that provide a safe home base between adventures.
At its core, LCS Camps is about the connections made on campus. Learning to work together and support one another is a fundamental part of the experience. Through shared activities and group excursions, campers from across Canada and around the world build lasting friendships and social skills that stay with them long after the summer ends.
