Alpengirl Camp offers a wide range of outdoor activities designed to be both challenging and accessible for girls of all skill levels. These activities are carefully structured to promote personal growth, teamwork, and a deep connection with nature. Each itinerary includes a blend of activities that showcase the best of the surrounding region:

•Backpacking and Hiking:

Girls embark on multi-day backpacking trips through scenic wilderness areas. These treks encourage physical fitness, self-reliance, and problem-solving skills, offering opportunities for personal reflection and growth.

•Rock Climbing:

Some camps provide rock climbing experiences on natural rock faces. Campers learn climbing techniques, safety practices, and gain a sense of accomplishment as they overcome challenges. This activity combines physical strength with mental focus.

All rock climbing activities are facilitated by contracted professional outfitters.

•Whitewater Rafting:

A thrilling part of the Alpengirl experience, whitewater rafting allows girls to navigate rapids, master water safety, and develop teamwork on the water. This dynamic activity fosters trust, communication, and confidence.

All whitewater rafting activities are facilitated by contracted professional outfitters.

•Horseback Riding:

Campers explore scenic trails on horseback, learning foundational riding skills and developing confidence. Activities emphasize building strong bonds with horses and understanding their care, including grooming and saddling.

All horseback riding activities are facilitated by contracted professional outfitters.

•Backcountry Horse Packing and Llama Packing:

These immersive wilderness experiences take campers deep into remote areas, where they travel by horseback or on foot, with gear carried by pack animals. Campers build leadership skills as they manage logistics, care for animals, and navigate terrain.

All animal packing activities are facilitated by contracted professional outfitters.

•Canoeing, Kayaking, and Stand-Up Paddle-boarding:

In regions with lakes or rivers, campers paddle on the water while learning techniques for these activities. These experiences promote confidence, teamwork, and a connection to aquatic environments.

•Outdoor Survival Skills:

Campers are taught practical skills such as fire-making, shelter-building, navigation, cooking over an open fire, and wilderness first aid. These skills foster independence and competence in the outdoors. Campers can earn “skill beads” for mastering these abilities.

•Environmental Education:

Campers learn about local ecosystems, wildlife, and sustainable practices through activities like nature walks, flora/fauna identification, and Leave No Trace discussions. This promotes eco-conscious leadership and mindful decision-making.

•Sea Kayaking:

Coastal locations offer sea kayaking excursions where campers paddle along shorelines, explore hidden coves, and learn about coastal ecosystems. This serene activity enhances awareness of tidal patterns, navigation, and wildlife observation.

All sea kayaking activities are facilitated by contracted professional outfitters.

Alpengirl Camp ensures that every camper experiences adventure, builds new skills, and forms lifelong memories in a supportive and inspiring environment.

A Typical Day at Alpengirl Camp

A typical day at Alpengirl Camp is packed with outdoor adventures, skill-building activities, and moments for reflection, all within a supportive and fun environment. The schedule strikes a balance between physical challenges, personal growth opportunities, and time to relax and connect with other campers.

7:00 AM – Wake-Up and Morning Alpenyoga
The day starts early as campers rise with the sun, ready for the adventures ahead. The Leader of the Day helps guides get everyone up and moving. The group gathers for a short Alpenyoga session to stretch, loosen up, and set a positive tone for the day.

8:00 AM – Breakfast
A nutritious and hearty breakfast fuels the day’s activities. Meals are often prepared together as a group, teaching campers outdoor cooking skills. Breakfast favorites include Strawberry-Stuffed French Toast, Alpengirl Breakfast Burritos, and Spring Lover’s Fruit Parfait.

9:00 AM – Adventure Time!
The day’s main adventure varies by itinerary and may include:

• Backpacking/Hiking: Guided hikes through scenic trails, with lessons on ecosystems and navigation.
• Rock Climbing: Building confidence and teamwork on natural rock walls.
• Horseback Riding: Scenic trail rides and horse care activities.
• Whitewater Rafting: Learning water safety and teamwork on exciting river rapids.
• Sea Kayaking: Exploring coastlines and learning about tides and currents.

Note: Some sessions may include setting up camp, traveling to new locations, or exploring new wilderness areas.

12:00 PM – Lunch
Lunch is served in the field, on the trail, or at the campsite. Campers pack their own trail meals, such as sandwiches, wraps, or snacks like energy bars, dried fruits, and nuts, enjoying a well-deserved break.

4:00 PM – Camp Time
After an active day, campers have free time to relax and engage in quiet activities like journaling, sketching, or reading. Group games or bonding activities are also an option. If near water, campers might swim or lounge by the shore.

This is also an opportunity for campers to work on “skill beads,” mastering outdoor skills such as shelter building, campfire starting, or wilderness first aid.

5:30 PM – Dinner Preparation
Campers come together to prepare dinner using camp stoves or fire pits. Cooking as a group is an essential part of the experience, fostering teamwork. Dinner options include Garden Pesto Pizza, Fried Rice Quinoa, and Creamy Broccoli and Garlic Pasta.

6:30 PM – Dinner
Dinner is a time to gather around, share highlights from the day, and encourage each other. The meal is followed by laughter and camaraderie.

7:30 PM – Evening Relaxation
Evenings include storytelling, group reflection, and fun activities like the AlpenOlympic Talent Show. The day ends with “Leader of the Day Appreciation,” and campers receive kudos for their contributions.

9:15 PM – 9:15 Activity
A peaceful group activity marks the transition from day to night, allowing campers to wind down and appreciate the beauty of their surroundings.

9:30 PM – Bedtime Prep
Campers clean their spaces, brush their teeth, and prepare their tents. Special attention is given to storing any “smellies” in bear-safe spaces. Campers can read or journal before lights out.

10:00 PM – Lights Out
After a day of adventure and learning, campers fall asleep, eager for the next day’s challenges and discoveries.

The structured yet flexible daily schedule at Alpengirl Camp encourages growth, pushes campers outside their comfort zones, and provides tools to build confidence and resilience both in the wilderness and in everyday life.
