At our camp, leadership and supervision are structured with a strong emphasis on experience and individualized attention to our campers. Our camp benefits from very experienced camp directors who oversee all aspects of our programs and ensure a safe and enriching environment.
To provide focused guidance, all camp programs have dedicated coordinators or leaders. These individuals are responsible for the planning, execution, and supervision of specific activities and age groups. This ensures that each program area has knowledgeable and responsible leadership present.
Furthermore, we maintain small group sizes, organized by age and ability. This intentional structure allows our leaders and counselors to provide more personalized supervision, build stronger relationships with campers, and tailor activities to their specific developmental needs and skill levels. This tiered approach, from experienced directors to dedicated program leaders and small group supervision, ensures comprehensive oversight and a supportive environment for every camper.
Our staff selection process is rigorous, prioritizing experience and qualifications to ensure the highest quality of care and instruction for our campers. The majority of our team members are university graduates or currently enrolled university students, bringing a high level of maturity and responsibility.
Specifically, we employ qualified professionals in various program areas. This includes qualified language teachers to facilitate effective language learning, certified swim instructors to ensure water safety and skill development, experienced tennis coaches to provide quality instruction, and certified climbing instructors to guide campers safely on our climbing facilities. All our ski instructors hold internationally recognized professional certifications, demonstrating their expertise on the slopes.
For our more adventurous programs, such as rafting and mountaineering, as well as specialized activities like golf and horse riding, we partner with local professionals and qualified mountain guides. These experts bring in-depth knowledge of the local environment and hold the necessary certifications to ensure the safety and quality of these specialized programs. We are committed to having a skilled and qualified team, both within our core staff and through trusted local partnerships, to provide exceptional guidance and support across all our camp activities.
Yes, the safety and well-being of our campers are our highest priority, and we have a thorough vetting process for all staff members. Every potential staff member undergoes a rigorous interview process to assess their suitability for working with children. In addition, they are required to provide at least two professional or personal references, which we carefully check. Furthermore, all staff members are required to provide a police background check to ensure they have a clear record.
Building a trustworthy community is also important to us. Many of our staff members are hired through trusted referrals from friends or are former campers themselves, fostering a culture of familiarity and shared commitment to our camp values. This emphasis on thorough checks and the trust inherent in our hiring network ensures that we have a responsible and reliable team dedicated to providing a safe and positive experience for every camper.
We are committed to ensuring our staff are well-prepared and continuously developing their skills. All new staff members participate in an intensive 1-week orientation program. This comprehensive program emphasizes a deep understanding of all camp programs, including activity specifics, safety protocols, and camper engagement strategies. A significant portion of the orientation is dedicated to planning effective and engaging activities, as well as familiarization with the camp area and all relevant equipment.
Beyond the initial orientation, we believe in ongoing support and development. We hold regular meetings with camp directors to review program progress, address any challenges, and share best practices. Furthermore, each staff member benefits from individual consultations with camp directors to review their performance, identify areas for growth, and receive personalized feedback and support. This continuous cycle of training, planning, and feedback ensures our staff are confident, competent, and consistently providing high-quality experiences for our campers.
We are proud to be a truly international camp, warmly welcoming children from all over the world, representing a rich tapestry of different backgrounds and cultures. We firmly believe that all children have the fundamental right to an amazing and safe camp experience, regardless of their nationality, ethnicity, religion, or any other aspect of their identity.
Our approach to diversity and inclusion is embedded in our camp’s ethos. We strive to create an environment where every child feels valued, respected, and included. Our programs and activities are designed to be inclusive and accessible to all. We encourage campers to learn from one another’s unique perspectives and celebrate the richness that diversity brings to our community. By fostering a culture of understanding and acceptance, we aim to provide a positive and enriching experience for every child who joins us.
No Discrimination: We maintain a strictly non-discriminatory environment. No camper or staff member will face discrimination, favoritism, harassment, or ostracization based on race, skin color, nationality, parentage, creed, gender, age, physical appearance, or constitution. This principle applies to all interactions and opportunities within our camp.
Equal Opportunities for Students: We are dedicated to providing equal opportunities for all our students in all aspects of camp life, including activities, learning, and support. We foster an environment where every student is encouraged to participate and is recognized for their efforts.
Zero Tolerance for Harassment and Assault: Sexual harassment and physical assault are absolutely prohibited. We have a zero-tolerance policy for any behavior of a sexual nature or gender-based conduct that demeans anyone. This includes the misuse of authority for personal gain. Importantly, any sexual contact between adults and students is forbidden, regardless of perceived consent or the student’s age. Physical contact by adults is only permitted for justifiable pedagogical reasons, and students have the right to refuse any physical contact.
No Bullying: We strictly prohibit bullying, defined as repeated emotional harassment. Any confirmed instances of bullying will result in disciplinary action. Our entire team is actively involved in preventing and addressing bullying to ensure a respectful and supportive atmosphere for everyone.
We believe these clear guidelines are essential for creating a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment where all campers can thrive. Your child’s well-being is our top priority.
Our camp operates on an “unplugged” philosophy. To encourage full engagement with activities, foster meaningful interactions among campers, and promote a break from digital distractions, we do not allow campers to use mobile phones or other personal electronic devices during their stay. We believe this fosters a more immersive and community-oriented experience.
However, we understand the importance of staying connected. After the first three nights of camp, parents are welcome to call the camp and speak with their children at designated times in the evening. This allows for communication while still preserving the benefits of our unplugged environment during the main part of the camp day. Our camp staff will facilitate these calls.
