The lessons I’ve been participating in have definitely been different to what I’m used to and class back home. There’s been more discussion-based activities with a different lecture style. It’s a broad range of different types of ways to learn. And there’s also some time for us to learn and independently some time to work on our personal projects.
My tutor is Panos. He’s an architect from Greece, who’s a lecturer at Cambridge. He’s been teaching us about architectural history, the concepts in architecture and how to work as an architect. He’s been combining parts from the architecture course with his own prior experience in the industry. This programme haas definitely solidified my chosen university and what course I should take.
The Immerse programme has been absolutely brilliant because of all the things I’ve learned in only two weeks. The time went by really quickly! I’ve decided I want to continue to study business management down the line, and the Immerse programme has been really helpful for me to build my understanding of the topic and teach me about aspects of business management I didn’t know before.
I feel I’ve learned a lot at a really high level because the tutors actually teach at Oxford and Cambridge, so they really know what it’s like to be a student here and they understand what we should know in order to attend university here.
The Immerse programme has been one of the best experiences I’ve ever had in my whole life, to be honest! In psychology I’ve studied behavioural psychology, cognitive psychology, and we had a whole day to study gender and sexuality because it’s my tutor’s specialty.
For my personal project, I decided to do research about the correlation between the time adolescents spend on their phone and their levels of concentration. We learned about the aspects of the experiment that we could improve upon, such as the diversity of people asked, and the variation of demographics.
I really enjoyed the London and Oxford excursions, but I’d say the Oxford one was my favourite, because it looked like home for me – it reminds me of Brazil for some reason! I loved it, and London was also amazing.
