Panoramica

Camp Med-o-lark is a creative, welcoming summer camp tucked into the woods of Maine, known for its strong arts programs, warm community, and relaxed, non-competitive atmosphere. It’s a place where kids and teens are encouraged to be themselves, explore their interests deeply, and build meaningful friendships that often last well beyond the summer.
At Med-o-lark, the arts are central to daily life. Campers can choose from a wide range of offerings in music, theater, dance, visual arts, and creative writing, with especially strong programs in music and performing arts. Whether a camper is picking up an instrument for the first time, writing their own songs, designing sets, or performing on stage, the emphasis is always on creativity, expression, and joy rather than pressure or competition. Performances and showcases are celebratory, supportive experiences that highlight growth and effort.
Beyond the arts, Med-o-lark offers a full traditional camp experience. Campers swim, canoe, play sports and games, hike, spend time outdoors, and enjoy classic camp traditions. The natural setting creates space to unplug, breathe, and feel at home in the outdoors, while still balancing structured activities with free time and choice.
What truly sets Camp Med-o-lark apart is its culture. The camp is built around core values of friendship and kindness as a way of life; the confidence to think for yourself and act independently; the freedom to be and to become; and consideration for oneself, for others, for the environment, and for the community. Campers are supported in taking healthy risks, trying new things, and finding their voice in a community that celebrates individuality and mutual respect.
The staff at Med-o-lark are caring, engaged, and deeply invested in the camper experience. Many are artists, educators, and returning counselors who understand the importance of mentorship, patience, and genuine connection. Cabins are small, fostering close bonds and a strong sense of belonging, and counselors work closely with campers to help them feel safe, supported, and confident.
Med-o-lark is a wonderful fit for kids who are creative, curious, thoughtful, or simply looking for a place where they can feel comfortable being themselves. It’s a camp where friendships form naturally, creativity thrives, and campers leave with not just new skills, but a stronger sense of who they are and who they can become.

  1. Our daughters have gone to Med-o-lark for the past ten years and it has become their “happy place” and their home away from home. I have no doubt that these summers are creating the most treasured childhood memories for them—ones that will be with them forever. They have made wonderful, lifelong friendships with kids from all over the country and the world, and keep in touch with these friends during the year. The staff has figured out how to both foster independence and build a strong sense of community for the campers, where all feel included and proud to be a part of the Med-o-lark family. I feel completely confident that the wonderful camp staff is taking care of all of the campers’ needs and if I ever have a need to get in touch with them, they always make themselves available. I can’t recommend this camp highly enough and I am thankful it has been a part of their childhood experience. They are counting the days until the bus leaves for Maine.

  2. I’ve absolutely loved teaching guitar and recording studio two summers at Med-o-lark. There’s such a wide breadth of artistic pursuits offered, the campers really have a chance to discover a passion or talent they aren’t typically exposed to (e.g. hot glass, flying trapeze, etc…). In my short time here, I’ve made some of the greatest friends I’ve ever had – and I know many campers feel the same way (my younger sister included). Lasting friendships and creative, artistic freedom are extremely important to me personally – and are what make Med-o-lark a special place.

  3. My six summers at Med-o-lark have had a deep and lasting impact on who I am and where I want to go in life. As a first-time camper in 2013, I had no idea that it would keep me coming back up to a seventh summer and fourth year as a counselor. The talented, hard-working, kind campers that Med-O-Lark attracts are why I’ve decided to go into teaching and why I come back every year. You will meet truly incredible people at this camp from all over the world, and even make lifelong friends. I would recommend to anyone that they attend Med-o-lark.
