Our German lessons take place in our Youth Guest House Brigittenau, since our students live in the same building and they do not have to leave the premises and have only short distances to get to class. Our students live in the Guest House Wien-Brigittenau, Vienna’s most modern youth hostel. It is ideally located between Danube Island and downtown Vienna, which gives our students a blend of the atmosphere of the big city with the advantages of a quiet and safe residential area. The classrooms on the Bertha von Suttner school ship are within walking distance. The city center with its many historic and cultural sights can easily be reached during free time. The nearby Danube Island is an oasis of tranquility and is ideal for relaxation, sports and manifold leisure activities. The bright and modern twin rooms all have en-suite bathrooms, as well as air conditioning. We carefully choose the students who will share a room with each other. We take care to match roommates who have a comparable German language level and are of similar age, yet speak different native languages. This way we encourage them to speak and practice German with each other outside of the classroom. Boys and girls are housed separately. Our students receive three meals a day (breakfast, lunch and dinner). Breakfast and dinner will be served in the dining room of the youth hostel, while lunch will be served on board the ship.Laundry service is offered to all students free of charge once a week for their personal laundry. Bed linen and towels will be provided and changed regularly. The duration of accommodation can be either 2 weeks or 4 weeks.

Every day we offer an attractive and varied activity program with sports, games or cultural events for the leisure time after class. Our staff will encourage and motivate students to participate in the activities. This leisure program is included in the tuition fees. Sport: Football, Slacklining, Swimming Excursions: Every Saturday, our staff members organize and accompany full-day excursions to attractive destinations. Every Wednesday, our students will have half-day excursions to sights and interesting towns within the region. Arts: Handicrafts, Museums, Prater, City tours Other: Billiards, Board games, Table football

All courses are offered as a full-package including accommodation, full board, daily activities and excursions. We guarantee reliable around-the-clock supervision, both during the excursions as well as throughout the whole course. All students are expected to attend all classes, meals and scheduled activities and excursions. All participants receive a certificate after the final exam upon completion of the course. The certificate will indicate the German language level achieved in the course in the areas of listening comprehension, reading comprehension, oral expression, writing and grammar, as well as the number of lessons attended.

A lesson is 45 minutes long. Our courses comprise 30 lessons per week. In the summer months, on the first day of class there are usually no lessons, but instead the placement test is given and student orientation is held. Classes are held Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 1:00 pm. There is an additional lesson on Monday afternoon, as well as two lessons each on Tuesday and Thursday afternoon. There are on average 10 students of different nationalities in our classes. The small size assures that each student will actively participate in class. The classes are divided as homogeneously as possible according to the language level of the students. All students are expected to participate fully in their German course. Thus, a certain amount of homework is obligatory in all German classes. It is given regularly and involves preparation before and revision work after the day’s lessons. However, the amount of homework will always allow sufficient time for leisure activities. Written homework will be corrected and returned to the student, serving as an indication of his or her individual progress. All course participants take a weekly test which comprises the content of the preceding week of classes, so that students and teachers can assess the progress made in learning German. For long-term students at the conclusion of each language level (after five weeks) an additional comprehensive skill level exam is given which must be passed with a minimum result of 75% in order to advance to the next level.

En cas d'interdiction d'entrée, le cours peut être annulé sans frais. Le prix du cours payé peut être laissé en crédit pour un cours ultérieur à l'Institut Humboldt ou remboursé.

Quelles sont les mesures de santé et de sécurité en place ?

Les enfants et les adolescents sont surveillés 24 heures sur 24 et il y a toujours une personne de contact près d'eux. Si vous avez besoin d'une assurance maladie de voyage pendant votre séjour dans notre institut, vous pouvez y souscrire auprès du Humboldt-Institut en même temps que votre inscription. La cotisation est de 2 euros par jour de séjour. L'assurance maladie de voyage couvre les maladies et les accidents (et tout traitement médical nécessaire) qui surviennent pendant votre séjour dans le programme. Tout traitement lié à une maladie ou à un accident survenu avant le début du cours n'est pas couvert par l'assurance voyage. Tout problème de santé auto-infligé ne sera pas non plus couvert. L'assurance maladie de voyage ne comprend pas d'assurance responsabilité civile.

Quel est le taux d'encadrement ?

Le ratio élèves/encadrants est de 15:1. Une prise en charge fiable de nos élèves mineurs dans les cours pour enfants et adolescents est garantie 24 heures sur 24. Nos encadrants sont préparés à leur mission à l'institut par des entretiens détaillés et personnels ou par des ateliers. Au début de leur activité sur le lieu du cours, ils reçoivent une introduction complète aux processus, aux responsabilités et aux exigences éducatives dans les activités de loisirs et de soins. Chaque mission est évaluée et des séances de réflexion sur place sont organisées pour approfondir et consolider les compétences requises pour cette activité pédagogique et pour garantir et améliorer encore la qualité des soins sur le long terme.
