  1. Camp is really an extension of my family. The friendships I’ve created here are still going strong today with people from all over the globe that I never would have otherwise met. It’s a summer vacation that lasts two to eight weeks but the experience lasts a lifetime. It’s an environment that allows you to find yourself and encourages personal growth. It has been a fabulous learning experience and has enriched my life greatly.

  2. Every time I drive up the camp road I get an overwhelming feeling of excitement. This is due to the fact that camp really is a home-away-from-home. Being a Hi-Rocker means being bonded to amazing people all over the world, and right here in Mt. Washington. The people you meet through camp become your family, whether you spend 1 year with them, or 15 years. There is no greater connection than befriending, working, and living with people from all over the world, while living on this beautiful little lake. Camp is a part of you, no matter where you go. Sending me to Hi-Rock was the greatest gift my parents ever gave me, and returning as staff was one of the best decisions I ever made.

  3. Camp Hi-Rock changed my life! I started attending Hi-Rock as one of the littlest campers at 8 years old and continued straight through for more years than I can count, eventually working as a counselor and then program director. I return now with my children for Family Camp and am happy to report that the magic that is Hi-Rock is alive and well. Campers and staff come from all walks of life and all corners of the world. Every person who is lucky enough to spend a summer at Hi-Rock will grow tremendously in all aspects of their life (social, emotional, sports and outdoor skills, etc.).

Q&A

$1,170 – $2,545 (additional financial assistance available upon request)

The deposit is not refundable, as it covers the administrative costs of registrations and cancellations. Any other payments will only be refunded if the camp office receives written notice of cancellation by June 1. Refunds can take up to 90 days to process, regardless of amount. If a camper is unable to come to camp due to an accident or illness, payments are refundable provided a doctor’s note is submitted. Refunds will also be granted in the case of COVID-19 related cancellations. Refunds will not be granted to campers who choose not to complete their stay due to homesickness or dislike of our programs, or who are expelled from camp due to their failure to comply with the Camper Code of Conduct.

1. Daily medical care is provided by the medical staff in accordance with our standing orders from our consulting medical practice, Macony P.C. Our medical staff is available 24 hours a day. A sick call is available periodically throughout the day for mildly ill campers. First aid kits are kept in the program areas and the campers’ living areas. They are also carried on hikes and overnight trips. The majority of first aid will be administered by the medical staff. The general staff will administer first aid when necessary. Individuals administering first aid are qualified in at least basic first aid. Staff members will call for assistance in any situation where procedure is unclear. 2. Medications of any kind, including over-the-counter medications and vitamins, can only be administered with a current and complete YMCA Camp Hi-Rock Medication Administration Release form, signed by both the parent/guardian and the prescribing physician. All medications will be locked in the camp infirmary. All administration of medication will take place under the direct supervision of camp medical staff. Should a medication be required to be kept on the camper’s person, a physician must provide a written authorization for the medication to be with the camper at all times (usually in the case of albuterol or epinephrine). YMCA Camp Hi-Rock has standing orders to administer some typical over-the-counter medications as deemed necessary by our medical staff, including acetaminophen (Tylenol), Benadryl, milk of magnesia, oxygen, VoSol (ear drops), oral glucose, Chloraseptic, activated charcoal, and others as deemed necessary by our consulting physicians. Medications given per standing orders do not require a Medication Administration Release. 3. Emergency medical care is administered by the medical staff, and, if necessary, campers will be transported to a hospital or doctor’s office for further treatment. In the case where the camp emergency vehicle is inadequate given the patient’s needs, or in any other case deemed necessary by camp staff, the Emergency Medical System will be activated. 4. The camp must comply with the regulations of the State of Massachusetts Department of Public Health and be licensed by the local Board of Health. 5. Copies of our background check, complete health care and discipline policies and our procedures for filing grievances are available to parents upon request.
