ISSOS offers students (aged 13 – 18) the chance to combine learning and action-packed adventure in one of 3 world-famous university campuses at St Andrews, Cambridge or Yale.
Our students come to us from over 80 countries around the world and we limit applications to just 10% of each nationality so that our campuses have a truly unique international environment.
65% of our students are from returning families or have been referred to us by their friends, and we mix native and non-native English speakers at all times so that students can make new friends from all over the world.
Students choose one academic subject and one elective subject to focus on for the 3-week program. After their classes, they take part in our varied and fun-filled evening program of events, and at the weekends our day trips include visits to nearby cities where they can take in even more of the local culture.
On arrival, students are allocated to a group with around 11 other students of the same gender and age – each group is supervised by a dedicated counselor who will be with the group for the duration of the program.
Students will also join one of our ISSOS Clans and will spend their evenings competing in a variety of fun events to win points for their clan.
ActivitiesDepending on the campus students choose, our Elective class choices are:
- Outdoor Leadership
In addition, students spend their evenings taking part in our fun-filled evening program, which includes everything from Variety Shows, Scottish Country Dancing, and competing to win points for their clans in a range of fun events.
On Saturdays, we take our students on full-day trips to nearby cities, and on Sunday they have free time or can take part in a range of activities offered at our Sunday Workshops.
Academic CoursesDepending on the campus students choose, our Academic class options are: Debate, Business & Entrepreneurship, Youth Leadership, Journalism, Creative Writing, IB Extended Essay, Pre IB, English Language

Summer school was a new experience for our daughter and for us as parents too. She had a great time, improved her English Language skills and gained so much self-confidence. The friends she met at ISSOS are friends for much longer than the 3 weeks at Yale. New travel plans for summer 2020 are in development …. St. Andrews is the expected destination next summer. Thank you ISSOS!
Our son had an extraordinary experience at ISSOS Cambridge – meeting and making friends with people from all over the world, great tuition and a wide variety of activities. He loved the Scottish country dancing and the clan games!
My daughter has atended ISSOS from 2016-2019 and has done the “HAT TRICK” of all 3 campuses and my son has attended at St. Andrews and Cambridge and plans on going to Yale this summer. My husband and I cannot say enough about how great Jen, her counselors, and her program is. This program helped my daughter into a mature, confident young lady and this past summer we were shocked how more self-assured and mature my son (14) became. This year my daughter (16) is going to a boarding school and we believe ISSOS made this transition so much easier. All the academic programs they have chosen have helped them being leaders after camp.
